We offer eVisits, Express Video Visits and Scheduled video visits to accommodate your medical concerns and your schedule.

  • eVisits are a patient submitted questionnaire for a specific non-urgent medical condition that connects you with a provider.
  • Express Video Visits allow you to complete a face to face virtual video visit from your mobile device with a provider while joining a virtual waiting room.
  • Scheduled Video Visits allow you to complete a face to face virtual video visit from your mobile device with a provider or specialist.


You will be able to connect with a provider form the convenience of your home, work or anywhere in between.



An eVisit is a non-urgent virtual medical visit for a specific condition. eVisits should never be used for urgent health care conditions. An eVisit can connect you with a provider to receive a diagnosis, treatment and a prescription if needed.

  • You can request a non-urgent eVisit through your MyChart account if you are an existing patient that has been seen by a primary care provider in the last 2 years and are located in the state(s) of Minnesota or North Dakota.
  • eVisits are available for all ages depending on the condition.
  • The following conditions are available for eVisit:


    • Acne (age 10+)
    • Allergies/Hayfever (age 2+)
    • Athlete's Foot (age 10+)
    • Burn (age 18+)
    • Cold Sore
    • Cough/Sore Throat (age 2+)
    • Diaper Rash
    • Diarrhea (age 18+)
    • Eczema
  • Flu (Influenza, age 2+)
  • Gout (age 18+)
  • Head Lice (age 2+)
  • Insect Bite (age 18+)
  • Pink Eye/Red Eye (age 2+)
  • Poison Ivy/Poison Oak (age 2+)
  • Rash
  • Shingles (age 18+)
  • Sinus Issues (age 2+)
  • Sunburn (age 2+)
  • Urinary Problems (Females Only, age 18+)
  • You can initiate an eVisit 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, including holidays.
  • An eVisit provider will respond to your request within 4 hours Sunday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., including Holidays.
  • The cost for an eVisit is $40. Depending on your insurance coverage, some of the cost may be covered.
  • Depending on your condition the provider may ask that you be seen in the clinic for further assessment which in this case you will not be charged for the eVisit.

  • Once you have completed the above you are ready for your next eVisit.
  • You can request an eVisit with a provider utilizing Request an eVisit feature.
  • You will be walked through a series of steps assisting you through the online questionnaire about your symptoms which will give the provider information needed to treat you.
  • Your eVisit will become part of your permanent medical record.
  • You can request an eVisit through your child's or proxy account using MyChart using proxy access; which allows a person access to another person's medical record.
  • eVisits may be submitted by a proxy on the patient's behalf, be sure you are in the correct record when submitting an eVisit.

  • You can call your provider's medical office.




An Express Video Visit allows you to complete a face to face virtual video visit from your mobile device with a provider for non-urgent medical concerns. You may receive a plan of care, a prescription, or depending on your symptoms you may be asked to see a provider in person.

Express Video Visits allow you to join a virtual waiting room.

During a video visit you will use your mobile device that has the MyChart app installed. You will be able to connect with a provider form the convenience of your home, work or anywhere in between.



  • You can request a non-urgent Express Video Visit through your MyChart account if you are an existing patient located in the state(s) of Minnesota or North Dakota.
  • Express video visits are available for >2 years of age.
  • Express Video Visits are available for non-urgent conditions such as respiratory infections, urinary tract infections (females only, age 18-65), pink eye, sinus infections, flu, rashes and more.
  • Chronic care and conditions lasting greater than 2 weeks should be seen by your provider via video visit or in one of our clinics.
  • Express video visits are available 7 days a week Sunday through Saturday 7a.m. to 10 p.m., including Holidays.
  • We will bill your insurance for the cost of your video visit. If you insurance does not pay the full amount due, you may be responsible for the balance, including copays or deductible. Though video visits are covered by many insurance policies, there are stills ome insurance policies that will not cover Video Visits for pateints at home. Ultimately, it is your responsbility to confirm your insurance coverage.
  • If a video visit is a covered benefit: If you have coverage, then your plan will process Video Visits the same as a face to face visit and assign copay, coinsurance and/or deductible based on your plan benefits. Covered benefits are not eligible for the patient pay discount.
  • If a video visit is not a covered benefit: If your insurance does not offer video visits as a covered benefit, you may be eligible for a self pay patient discount for the video visit. Call Altru Patient Financial Services at 701.780.1500 once you receive your bill for the service. Medicare patients should automatically receive the discount and will not need to call Patient Financial Services for the discount. If you are uninsured or underinsured and your insurance does not cover this service, you may be eligible for financial assistance. An Scheduled Video Visit allows you to complete a face to face virtual video visit from your mobile device with a provider. You may receive a plan of care, a prescription, or depending on your symptoms you may be asked to see a provider in person.

Scheduled video visits are available for almost all primary care and speciality provider's during regular business hours.

During a video visit you will use your mobile device that has the MyChart app installed. You will be able to connect with a provider form the convenience of your home, work or anywhere in between.



  • You can request a non-urgent Scheduled Video Visit through your MyChart account if you are an existing patient located in the state(s) of Minnesota or North Dakota.
  • Scheduled Video Visits are available for all ages.
  • Scheduled video visits you are able to see your provider for almost all types of conditions with the exception of physicals.
  • Express Scheduled video visits are available 7 days a week Sunday through Saturday 7a.m. to 10 p.m., including Holidays.
  • Regular Scheduled Office Visits are availalbe during regular business hours.
  • We will bill your insurance for the cost of your video visit. If you insurance does not pay the full amount due, you may be responsible for the balance, including copays or deductible.   • You can directly schedule a video visit with your provider using the Schedule a Visit feature. Select Video Visit (Scheduled) for the reason for visit. Select the date and time that works best for you and click Schedule.
